How bad is debt settlement for your credit score?

no worse than doing nothing at all but in most cases better in the fact that most creditors will not try to ruin your credit as long as they are getting something
you should always try to get an agreement in writing that the creditor will not report you to the credit agencies as long as you pay a set price
