Bill of Lading

A document that a transportation carrier issues to a shipper, noting that the carrier has the shipment of items. It also notes that the order is on board some means of transport for delivery to the specified destination. It also notes how the goods will be carried, serving as a contract between the carrier and the shipper. The document tells the where, by whom, and when the good will be delivered along with the charges that have been paid. It also serves to shift the good’s ownership.
